Description
A delicate and beautiful Normandy lace doily, created by layering antique Alençon lace, dating back to the 16th century from the Alençon region of France, onto Belgian Bruges linear lace.

A delicate and beautiful piece meticulously patchwork-assembled from approximately 10 pieces using various techniques.

✵ Clematis and tulip mezza punta lace
✵ Brussels lace point de rose
✵ Arlanc... A traditional type of antique lace combining tape and filling stitches.

[Center]
A beautiful bobbin lace with a delicate charm, where linear flowers woven with extremely fine thread float within an octagonal (8-petal) flower.

Geometric patterns with soft curves, as if drawn with a Spirograph, are lacy and refreshing.
Though almost invisible, the frilled lace on the edge may be crochet.
Woven with extremely fine, exquisite thread, it is very smooth.

[Wide-rimmed floral embroidery section]
① Four clematis flowers
② One large tulip
Imagined to be mezza punta technique from the 1700s-1800s.
This is likely a rare technique where extremely dense mesh is hand-embroidered within linen tape.
The exquisite detail is truly stunning.

③ Point de rose, viewed from the side
④ Motifs that appear to be blueberry clusters or small Western daisies, and motifs that resemble rosebuds, flowers, and leaves.
⑤ Delicate rose leaf embroidery with visible veins.

Asterisks at the center of the flowers ✵
The delicate and refreshing sparkle of water splashes, ice, or crystals on the bridges connecting the flowers ✵.

A slightly deep, elegant, and gentle ivory beige tone, with a hint of skin tone.
Beautifully aged sepia tones in various places.

The fabric part is also extremely thin and sheer.
It feels like exquisite lawn and has excellent stiffness.
This piece must have taken a considerable amount of time to complete.

Please excuse the following measurement errors for handmade items.

Diameter 27cm - 25cm

The leaf motifs and threads, which have a slightly deeper sepia tone than the surroundings, are particularly noticeable on the inner edge of the rim. There are also a few areas that appear to be repairs for thread unraveling.

We recommend this item to those who appreciate the charm of antique tones and do not mind signs of aging. Please also excuse any minor imperfections.

Ideal for placing under bisque dolls, objets d'art, or glassware.
For dressers, shelves, and tables.
